Was it a Maybelline Dream Wonder or Rimmel Match Perfection?

What is a makeup blog without a blogger?  Makeupmaverick.blogspot.com

I’ve been inspired to write about makeup recently as I came across the most perfect foundations EVER.  I’m so impressed that I took to the keyboard with my inch long nails to describe the ethereal effect of these products.  Although I’ve recently joined the YouTube world, I felt compelled to come home to my blog, as for once, pictures didn’t do this product justice.  But I will post some, fret not.  Let’s cut the small talk and get into the meat and potatoes of this thing.

A week ago I purchased Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation on a wimb.  I say this because, as the frugal shopper that I am, I questioned the .67 fluid ounce that it offered versus the full ounce and sometimes even more, that others offer.  So it made me think, “Why is this bottle so small, and it’s the same price (if not more) than the others?”  But I’m curious, so I ran to the register at Wal-Mart with it.  I’m so glad I did.  This, for me, was it.  When I got home and tried it on, I wanted to tell someone about it.  But who wants an emergency phone call from me reporting to them about the most important makeup find of this century?  It’s sheer but not too sheer that your imperfections show through.    The finish is that of a doll’s face that you just removed from the box.  I’m not sure what’s in this bottle, but I’m pretty sure a baby’s bottom is involved. I used the very popular Sigma F80 brush to apply it, but the product suggests you use your fingers.  I’m sure this will do the job too.

For just under $10 (at Wal-Mart), it is well worth the cost.  And between you and I, I would have paid twice as much.  But I’d prefer you keep that between us.  You don’t need a setting powder, however I chose to use one as I tend to get oily in my T-zone as the day progresses.  I chose the perfect color which was 40 Nude and it fit me like a pair of 10 year old pajama pants that has lost elasticity in the waist band.  That may not be the best way to describe makeup, but you know what I mean.  So here’s a picture of the product and then an image of me wearing it

Every day for a week I was so excited to wake up and get made up to my oh so perfect Maybelline Fluid Touch Foundation, which was hard to find when I tried to repurchase.  I went back to my local Wal-Mart to get more a few days later and the display was gone.  Had this all been a dream as the name suggests?  Did Wal-Mart make a mistake and recall the product just before I walked in the store that I so rarely frequent?  I needed to know.  So I went to Ulta soon after and the makeup Gods were shining down on me.  Maybelline products were buy one get one 50% off and guess who was staring at me when I approached the Maybelline isle?  You guessed it; Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation.  That’s what I’m talking about.  So two of those guys came home with me that day.  My life was complete.

Until, of course, I bumped into Rimmel of London Match Perfection Foundation.  At $5.99 from CVS, I thought, let’s give this baby a whirl.  It’s a full ounce of makeup, and if I’m not happy, I’ll just return it as their return policy suggests.  So she came home with me, sitting patiently in the seat next to me, awaiting her moment of glory.  She wasn’t too showy like that Dream Wonder was with her fancy Fluid-Touch applicator.  Just a bottle with a cap, old school, and familiar, just like I like.  And alas, upon application, her light shined.  I had soon forgotten about Maybelline and Match Perfection was the new girl-next-door in town.  What’s a Makeup aficionado to do? Post a picture of the competition, of course:

I love them both, equally.  Like a mother with two kids.  You can’t pick you’re favorite.  You can, secretly, like one more than the other at different times…and that’s just what I’m gonna do.

I like the Maybelline product when my skin is clear.  I hope this blog reaches the Gods up above, and stresses how much I prefer when my skin is clear.  But sometimes they’re not listening.  In which case I’ll need the Rimmel Match.  So they’ll both stay in my life, and in the front on my makeup foundation row.  Until I find a new favorite…but until then…

Stay Beautiful,

Makeup Maverick
